Above is a close-up of Kellie's work... DROOL....
This is my test piece. Choosing colours and fabrics was a real eye-opener. I always thought I was pretty good with matching colour and understanding differences in tones and hues. However, choosing fabrics for 'fussy cutting' enabled me look at colour and pattern in a whole new light. I don't think I will ever look at fabrics in the same way again! It was liberating! :-)
Pictured above is Kellie's "How does your garden grow?" cushion. Her work is perfect in every way... colour, fabric, quilting, technique. I could way lyrical all day! One of the most wonderful things about the day was seeing Kellie's creations close-up and being able to TOUCH them!
I know that Kellie is running further workshops across the country and if you love her designs and have the opportunity to attend - I would highly recommend it. This talented lady really 'knows her stuff'. She is an excellent teacher, and a genuinely lovely and down-to-earth lady, to boot!
Changing the subject completely... have you checked out the counter on the top of my blog? It's not long now until the blogging world goes nutty!

Vikki, what an amzing time you had at Kellies workshop. I love her work but it always looks so daunting. I have done a couple of pieces of raw edge applique this week but not sure what I am expecting.... send me hints, I couldn't enlarge your photo to see closer.
You are a wicked woman, such a tease babe, I am so looking forward to finding out your secrets that I will probably forget to look .....big hugs hun, Deb
oh Vikki, how lucky are you then, getting to one of Kellie's workshops. I have looked, rather drooled (!!!!) at her work many times, and thought Yeh, would like to try some of that! one of my tuit things when I have lots of "spare" time
Gorgeous work to be sure, Vikki...and so inspirational!
When I grow up I want to...well, you know the rest, huh?
Thanks for sharing.
Looks like you had an amazing time at the workshop Vikki - you lucky thing! Love the start you have made on your cushion. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
Oh lucky, lucky, you. I'm sure you must have had a terrifc time. Does this mean we'll see more raw edge in your future?
Oh,oh,oh that workshop is looking nothing short of fabulous Vikki....enjoy every minute! Raw edge applique is loads of fun and I know you will quickly pop that technique into your designs.

Wow I am drooling just looking at her work. It's amazing and your so lucky to have the opportunity to learn that.
So you used your free motion quilting foot to do the raw edge applique. Tell me more....it looks scarey...like you might go off the edge or something....I love the photos!!! Beautiful and fun.
Smiles,
Kelly

Hi Vikki, I've been wondering what you've been up to lately. I'm glad you had a chance to get away and do the workshop. I won her pattern but haven't been able to get some time into making it. How does the raw edge applique hold up in the wash. My friends won't do it because they think it will fray after being washed.
Oh soooooo beautiful....I'll have to keep an eye out for her workshops ....looks great!

Lucky lucky you to be able to join Kelly's workshop!!! Your 'try out' looks very pretty. And how wonderful that she also taught you how to look at fabrics and colors in a very different way.
Look foward to see a finished project!
And stop that teasing please ...
