A Warm Welcome!

As I am sure that most - if not all - of you agree:

Blogging is wonderful! :-)

Before I started writing a blog, I would spend hours reading others with great enthusiasm and excitement. It was wondrous! A whole new world where I'd discovered a never-ending wealth of inspiration, tuition, and - quite often - therapy! :-)

And then I started keeping a blog... and the bloggy world unfolded into a huge universe full of friendship, love and support. This is when I thought, "Aha... THIS is what blogging is all about!"

So you can imagine my delight when two friends decided to join the blogging community, as I know they will derive so much pleasure from it.

Sharon is a doting mother and beautiful crafter! Her sewing and painting projects are always exceptionally well-made and I love admiring her work first-hand. When I moved out to Australia five years ago, it was Sharon who took me to the studio with her and introduced me to the joys of decorative painting... for which I will always be grateful for! Thank you, Sharon! :-) x

Sue is an amazing doll artist and avid charity worker, and I always look forward to catching up with her every month at our Dolly Club (also known as ACDA!) Sue always has a smile on her face and a kind word to say, and is one inspirational lady to be around.

Welcome ladies! I hope you enjoy blogging as much as I do!

Hugs! Vikki x

All Puffed out!

Well, I have now completed the top of my Puff quilt - Yay!

After I chat with you I am going to baste the three layers of the fabric sandwich together and get stuck into some quilting :-) I am told that practice makes perfect, and every aspiring quilter has to start somewhere... and for me, this is it!

I have also been busy sewing on some other projects, but I can't show you them yet as they are for swaps. What a tease, eh?

But what I can share with you are these soft & cozy woollens and tweeds that I purchased yesterday from my local patchwork store. I am gradually gathering woolly scraps so that I have enough variety to make one of these.

Jodie over at Ric-Rac did a post about Mimi at Doll a few weeks back, and I checked out the link and spent a happy few hours ooh-ing and aah-ing over these cute Tiny Worlds!

I hope that you are all enjoying a great weekend!

Puff's progress!

I have made some headway with my Puff the Magic Dragon cot quilt... and it is now fully pieced and ready for some applique leaves to be added to its borders... After all, old Puff can't "Wallow in the Autumn mist" without a few leaves still hanging around!

I used an applique design by Anne Gadsby Designs for the dragon, and the rest has evolved, and continues, to require some evolution! The borders are quite plain at the moment but I have a few ideas bubbling away.

I plan to have a fully completed top to show you by the end of this week!

New magazines

Create & Decorate is an American Crafts Publication and often difficult to come by in Australia. But I always love to flick through its pages when I discover it on the newsagents' shelves, and this issue was just too good to put back!

This 'Garden Angel Kitty' was designed by Virginia Lettorale... and is a project-in-waiting for my little girl, Rosie.

The 'Memories Keepsake pincushion' was designed by Angela Prince-Bex and I think it's a great way to display vintage charms...

Moving on to Australian magazines... and I can never go a month without securing a copy of Homespun! This issue has some great projects, including a whimsical pull-along toy by Pam Eyre of Cloth to Creation. The aptly named, Bacon and Eggs, is pictured below:

And a variation of the popular Babushka dolls equates to this cute and quirky doll by Fiona Lech:

As the guys at Monty Python would say, "And now for something completely different!"...

My gorgeous friend Ral, is crazy about felting. If you read my blog on a regular basis you might remember our excursion to a felting exhibition here. We got more than we bargained for that night, as Mr Bacon and Eggs, could tell you!!

Anyway, I discovered the FIRST issue of a new Australian magazine, very simply, called Felt. If you're interested in finding out more, then check out the weblink here.

I am looking forward to having a cuppa, putting my feet up, and enjoying an inspired read!

Update on Rosie

Rosie is almost back to her 'usual self' now... expressing interest in food, teasing her big brother, and running rings around her mum! Thank you once again for your kind thoughts and prayers... I have no doubt that they've made all the difference in aiding the return of her good health! Hugs! xx

Until next time, happy reading! :-)

Rosie is home and well :-)

Thank you SO MUCH to all of you beautiful blogging friends who have sent your loving wishes and prayers to my little daughter Rosie, and to my family. It has given me strength and support... and I really felt your love. xxxx

My little Rosebud came home yesterday after spending two days in hospital on a drip. It all started with a virus that took hold rather badly and led to her being totally dehydrated and hypoglycemic. The labs are running blood tests to check for metabolic problems, but the most probable cause for her sugar levels to drop so low is that she got so run-down and dehydrated.

Rosie had a great sleep last night - which is more than could be said for her mum!! I lay awake for hours on end fretting because she had refused her usual toddler formula before bedtime and hadn't drank anything since lunchtime. But she had her formula this morning and asked for Easter Eggs... so that is a good sign!

Thank you again for all of your love and support. And heartfelt thanks to the beautiful Jenny of elefantz for asking you to keep Rosie in your thoughts and prayers and keeping you updated on her progress. Jenny, you are such a sweetheart. xx

I plan to get back into action over the next few days, and am sorry that I have not yet replied to messages I'd received several days ago, but I know you understand! :-)

Hugs! Hugs! Hugs! Vikki xx

Tozz's Tulips - I'm a winner!

I am such a lucky girl!! (Can I still call myself a girl at age 37?) Because I won this stunning quilt pattern, "Tulips in Bloom" designed by the lovely Vicki at Tozz's Corner! It is also a first for me to win a giveaway... double Hip Hip Hooray's!! :-)

Here is another of Vicki's gorgeous designs which was published some time ago in one of the Australian craft magazines. I missed out on the publication, but fortunately, Vicki is now selling her designs in her etsy shop
here. So I 'snapped up' this little beauty to add to my never-ending To-do list. :-) I have got some serious amounts of sewing to catch up on, haven't I?!

I know that many of you already know Vicki... But if you haven't yet met her, why not go for a visit and say hello? She is a genuinely lovely lady and whenever we communicate, she always puts a smile on my face!

Until next time - happy creating!
